So what is it that everyone’s looking for?
We live in a world where it seems that everyone is constantly searching. Even if you are not searching, it’s very difficult not to feel that you should be – weight loss, looking good, fame, self-importance, self-acceptance. These are some of the things we are constantly being told we must have in our lives, otherwise we are just not living.
A few years ago I did a training course called Broad Band Consciousness run by a guy called Richard Wilkins, and I think he pretty much hit the nail on the head when he said we can spend all our lives chasing fame, wealth, self-image, self-importance; but ultimately, what everyone really wants in life is to feel good.
What that means to two different people could, and probably would, be different, but the end result is a feeling. Not a physical thing but a feeling; it’s the feeling that makes us feel good, and helps us in turn to make others feel good.
If you are feeling good then you see the world from a different place; you see things from a different perspective and you’re generally much more forgiving of yourself and others.
So how are you? How are things in your life? The biggest worry I have in the work I do is that when people are not feeling good in their lives – for whatever reason – then the chasing begins. “I’ll feel good when I’ve lost those few pounds.” “I’ll feel good when I can afford that car…. that house…. that holiday.” “I’ll feel good when ……” Fill in the blanks; the list is endless……..
What I would say to Mr or Mrs Chase-Everything is that feeling good is just that – a “feeling” – and no amount of external wealth etc etc will help you achieve that “feeling” long term. Yes, you may get short term pleasure, but ultimately it will disappear and you will find yourself chasing again.
Feeling good is a feeling: a feeling inside that allows you to be happy with you, be happy with the now, and feel more content about you and your life.
But don’t get me wrong; there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting that big house, big car, big ……. – finish off the list – but it won’t bring you long term happiness.
So how are you? How is your feeling? How do you feel about you?
The good news is we have some great ways to help you feel good about you, and to help you realise how fantastic you already are. And, you and I, working together, we can help you see this in yourself, enabling you to feel good about you.
So, in the words of Richard Wilkins, ‘What everybody ultimately wants in life is to feel good.’
I can’t guarantee a big house, a big car, a luxury holiday, a big bank balance . …… but, using Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP, I can pretty much guarantee you will feel good about yourself.
How good does that feel?
