So what’s your story?
Oh yes! Everyone has a story; something they perhaps tell themselves on a daily basis. Something that reminds them of a time when maybe things didn’t go according to plan; maybe they didn’t perform quite as well as they wished they had; when that voice in their head was screaming, ‘Can’t/won’t /shan’t’. And I guess it won.
One of my favourite stories is the one about an old Cherokee Indian who was talking to his grandson. He said, ‘Inside all of us, son, there are really two wolves who, every day, are fighting against each other. One of the wolves is full of anger, hate, jealousy, envy, sorrow regret, greed, arrogance, resentment and false pride. The other wolf is full of love, joy, peace, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, compassion, generosity and faith.
The grandson thought for a while and then, turning to his Granddad, he asked, ‘Which wolf wins the fight Grandad?’
The Old Cherokee looked at his grandson, smiled and replied, ‘The one you feed son, the one you feed.’
So what’s your story telling you? And which wolf wins most days? As we enter the festive season, and approach a new year, how about considering telling yourself a different story next year. Let the other wolf win. How good would that feel? And think about who you would be with all of those qualities in your life.
Remember; everything doesn’t have to be real – just possible. So what differences are you considering making in 2018? And how different will your life be having made them?
Keep warm and ..
Have a great week
